Duff Morton is a doctoral student in Anthropology and Social Service Administration. He studies Brazil’s Bolsa Família welfare program, the largest conditional cash transfer in the world. Duff examines the changes that Bolsa Família has (and hasn’t) made in the lives of farmers and migrant workers, particularly those connected to the Movimento Sem Terra, Brazil’s landless movement. Beyond his research, Duff has worked as a youth development counselor, a psychiatric social worker, and a homeless organizer.
