As the Program and Communications Coordinator, Yaniv provides logistical support for planning conferences, discussion talks, roundtables and other type of events involving the Human Rights Program. He is currently also assisting Dr. Evan Lyon with research and writing for a book on current human rights issues in Haiti to be published by McSweeny’s as part of their Voices of Witness series.  Yaniv earned his M.A. from the Committee on International Relations at the University of Chicago, where he completed his second-year specialization in Latin American and Caribbean studies and wrote his M.A. thesis on the effects of microfinancial development in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.   Prior to attending the University of Chicago, Yaniv received a dual B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Florida International University. In Miami, he also completed a 10-month apprenticeship with Public Allies, a branch of Americorps that promotes public service and leadership across the nation. Yaniv has also been involved with Democracy Now!, the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, the Spark Program and the National YoungArts Foundation. He is originally from Bogota, Colombia.
