Human Rights Internships Application
The Human Rights Internship Program offers a select group of Chicago students the opportunity to learn the skills and understand the difficulties inherent in putting human rights into practice. Since its establishment in 1998 the Internship Program has placed more than 350 students with non-governmental organizations, governmental agencies and international bodies around the world. The Internship Program is unique in its flexibility and provides each intern a $5000 stipend to fund their human rights project. Interns are selected in the fall quarter. Human Rights Program staff work with the selected group throughout the rest of the academic year to secure appropriate placements and develop a work plan.
This program is open only to University of Chicago Students
All second-, and third-year students in the College, and all graduate and professional students are eligible to apply to the Human Rights Internship Program. Students need not have taken a Human Rights course to apply. Accepted interns should take History and Theory-Human Rights 2 (Winter Quarter) or Contemporary Issues in Human Rights – Human Rights 3 (Spring Quarter) prior to the start of their internship.
