Jennifer Pitts

Political Science

Jennifer Pitts is Professor of Political Science, and in the Committee on Social Thought and the College.

Professor Pitts is a political theorist whose research interests in the history of political thought include international law, theories of empire, and global justice.  

She is the author of Boundaries of the International: Law and Empire and A Turn to Empire: the rise of imperial liberalism in Britain and France, co-editor with Adom Getachew of W. E. B. Du Bois: International Thought, and co-editor with Dan Edelstein of The Cambridge History of Rights, volume 4, on the 18th and 19th centuries.
