Beth Awano
Beth Awano (she/her) is the Program Coordinator for the Human Rights Lab at the Pozen Family Center for Human Rights and the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture. She collaborates with staff, students, faculty and program partners to develop, organize and provide support for various initiatives, projects and events.
Beth graduated from the University of Chicago in 2021 with a BA in Sociology and Inequality, Social Problems, and Change, and was honored with the 2020 Jane Morton and Henry C. Murphy Award for her leadership and contribution to the university community. Beth has produced student film festivals, open mics, concerts, virtual exhibitions and is passionate about building community through storytelling and the arts.
In addition to working with the two centers, Beth is an Associate Producer with AirGo, a Chicago-centric cultural media hub and podcast, and coordinates programming at Build Coffee, a coffee shop and bookstore in the Experimental Station.
