Leila K. Blackbird

Leila K. Blackbird (she/they) is a PhD Candidate in U.S. History and the Pozen Family Human Rights Doctoral Fellowship Coordinator. Her research focuses on (post/de) colonialism, slavery, state violence, and the environment. In addition to the Pozen Center, Leila is affiliated with the Newberry Consortium in American Indian and Indigenous Studies (NCAIS), the Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies, and the Johns Hopkins Center for Africana Studies. She is currently a Research Assistant with The American Historical Review (AHR) and holds both a BA and an MA in History from the University of New Orleans and an MA in History from the University of Chicago.
