Global Health and Human Rights Residency with Anand Grover, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health

November 9 - 12, 2015

This residency with former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health Anand Grover is supported by the Pozen Family Center for Human Rights (Pozen Center), the Law School, and the Norman Wait Harris Fund at the Center for International Studies. It is a part the Pozen Center Health and Human Rights Initiative.

The residency is also supported by the UChicago Institute of Politics, UChicago Center for Global Health, Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and Northwestern Global Health Studies.

About Anand Grover

Anand Grover is a human rights lawyer based in India and the former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health (2008-2014). As UN Special Rapporteur, Grover worked closely wth governments, civil society, and community groups promoting a human rights-based approach to health. 

Grover is also a Senior Advocate on the Supreme Court of India and Co-Founder of the Lawyers Collective (India) where he is Director of the HIV/AIDS Unit. The Lawyers Collective HIV/AIDS Unit uses litigation and advocacy to promote human rights related to HIV/AIDS, LGBT persons, access to medicines, sex workers, and drug users. Grover has fought numerous high profile court cases in India relating to the repeal of the law criminalizing homosexuality, the patent status of antiretroviral and cancer drugs, and the 2G government corrpution scandal, the largest public corruption case in India’s history.
