Please join us for a teach-in about the recent protests in India. Ather Zia, Krithika Ashok, Jenisha Borah, and Isabela Fraga will be speaking, followed by a Q&A session.

Over the last few weeks, India has seen unprecedented levels of mass mobilization against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the allied National Registry of Citizens (NRC). Our teach-in intends to discuss the rollback of democratic processes in India, and to foreground the particularly precarious elements in the current political landscape: the combined effect of the NRC-CAA in Assam, and the occupation in Kashmir, against the backdrop of the blatantly anti-Muslim character of the ruling party and its policies. These political moves in India are aligned with a larger global scene of steadily increasing attacks on racial and religious minorities: such as the ongoing attack on indigenous communities in Brazil under the Bolsonaro government.
