Tuesday, October 15th

6:30pm – 8:00pm

Cobb 402 ; 5811 S. Ellis Ave, Chicago, IL 60637

How can NGOs and activists help to build a regulatory framework that supports human rights?  2013 Human Rights Interns Alexa Greenwald, Shirley Yan, and Tiffany Wong will offer hands-on accounts of the struggle to turn human rights principles into policy.  Focusing on the right to education and the right to health, they will describe the challenges and victories they lived during their 2013 Human Rights Summer Internships.  Alexa worked with the ASER Centre in New Delhi, India.  Shirley served as an intern at the Futures Group in Gurgaon, India.  Tiffany spent the summer with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation in Beijing and Sichuan, China.

Human Rights Internship Report-Back panels are held throughout the year as a forum for returning interns to share their experience with the campus community.  There will be an opportunity for Q&A with the returning interns, as well as time to interact with HRP staff and ask questions about the Human Rights Internship Program.

*Applicants for the 2014 Human Rights Summer Internship are strongly urged to attend.*

Sponsored by the Human Rights Program. Snacks provided.
