Post-Doctoral Instructor in Human Rights
The Pozen Family Center for Human Rights at the University of Chicago invites applications for a one-year Post-doctoral Instructor position in 2016-17, with the possibility of renewal for one additional year. We seek to attract an outstanding junior scholar whose work in the humanities or social sciences demonstrates excellence and addresses questions of lasting importance for the study of human rights and/or humanitarianism. Applicants must receive their doctoral degree by September 2016 to be considered. We especially welcome candidates who thrive in an interdisciplinary environment and whose work is informed by comparative and global perspectives. Responsibilities include the design and teaching of three courses over three quarters, participation in the activities of the Pozen Center, and advising a small number of BA or MA theses. The salary is $50,000 plus applicable University benefits, a $2,000 research account, and a small relocation allowance. Additionally, the Pozen Center may be able to support a scholarly workshop or small conference convened by the Instructor.
