The Pozen Center boasts a community of more than 500 alumni, many of whom are mobilized and energetic about UChicago’s students and their own human rights careers and practices. Alumni have mentored Human Rights interns searching for placements – and in a number of examples, have hosted and supervised summer interns at their own job sites.

During the 20th anniversary, the Center deepened and formalized relationships with these alumni, with the goal of connecting them with current students and building long-lasting relationships with the Center and its programs. During the 20th Anniversary Alumni Weekend celebrations, we convened an alumni council that will steer the Pozen Center toward its 25th anniversary. We also hosted gatherings for Human Rights Alumni in the San Francisco Bay area and Washington, D.C. In addition to the in-person gatherings, we launched a Google Group for alumni to stay connected.

This year, our alumni are invited to take on a new role in our internship selection process. Prospective intern applications will be reviewed remotely by alumni readers, and Chicago-area alums are invited to participate in candidate interviews on campus in November. If you are interested in participating in either of these processes in the future, please contact us (human-rights@uchicago.edu) for more information.
