Congratulations to 2020 Human Rights Lab Artist-in-Residence Dorothy Burge, who has been awarded a BAC + Art Center Residency for Summer 2021. The program is a partnership between Hyde Park Art Center and the Black Arts Consortium (BAC) at Northwestern University.

Dorothy’s residency with the Human Rights Lab was cut short last year due to the pandemic, and we look forward to welcoming Dorothy back in the fall. In the meantime, we’re thrilled that she’s been awarded this residency!

Each year, Hyde Park Art Center residencies invite artists and curators to complement their mode of production with increased attention towards reflection, reconnection, and research to spark new ideas and considerations of local and global art practices. Residents in the BAC + Art Center program participate in focused seasonal residencies where they receive free studio space to make work, research new projects, connect with a dynamic public, and gain access to both the Art Center’s and the Black Arts Consortium’s broad network of artists and resources.
