Devin Green is a Doctoral Candidate in Political Science at the University of Chicago. His research interests are in the political economy of the American carceral state. His dissertation draws on archival methods to understand the role of philanthropic foundations in the political development of American carceral institutions. His other work examines the effects of private funding from police foundations on police behavior and the development of police union power through backlash to the Civil Rights movement.

Devin is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and University of Chicago Neubauer fellow. He received his BA from Johns Hopkins University and his AA from the Community College of Baltimore County.
