Pozen Doctoral Fellow

Lauren Hagani (they/them) is a PhD Student in Sociology at the University of Chicago, specializing in the sociology of punishment, gender, and the sociology of law. Lauren studies the ways in which criminal legal structures — such as prisons, policing, and jurisprudence — shape the ways in which people organize and understand social relationships. Their current work examines litigation against public schools in the name of “parental rights” in the United States. Their research has received support from the Pozen Center, the Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression, and the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality.
