Rachel Chery is an eighth-year music history PhD candidate. Her dissertation examines the history of transnational connections created by Haitian radio throughout the 20th century. Her areas of interest include the relationship between music and nationalism in Haiti, media studies, diaspora, migration, and soccer fandom. She has presented at conferences, including the Society for Ethnomusicology and the Caribbean Studies Association. Rachel received her Bachelor’s degree in Music from the City College of New York and her Master’s in Music History from the University of Chicago.
