Stefanny is a fourth-year undergraduate at the University of Chicago, majoring in Human Rights, Creative Writing, and Visual Arts. Her academic journey reflects a commitment to combining narrative, justice, and data-driven inquiry.

She has gained legal and policy experience through internships with the Orleans Public Defenders, MALDEF, and Human Rights Watch. At the Orleans Public Defenders, Stefanny conducted in-depth client interviews, helped juveniles prepare their accounts for court, and supported case strategy by gathering evidence and structuring narratives that ensured clients’ voices were heard. At MALDEF, she authored a 50-state survey of discriminatory laws and assisted in policy analysis to strengthen Chicago’s human rights protections for immigrant and refugee communities. At Human Rights Watch, she performed legislative and statistical analysis of California Senate Bill 16, integrating data on shelter capacity, encampment sweeps, and repeat homelessness with human rights standards to reframe the bill’s long-term consequences.

Stefanny’s passion lies at the intersection of law, social justice, and analytical rigor. She is particularly drawn to opportunities that allow her to craft data-informed narratives for marginalized communities. Looking forward, she plans to pursue law school and is excited about roles that will enable her to build client research teams and contribute to cases that blend legal, economic, and social impact.
